QUALITY LAB ASSISTANT

Kane Brewing Company is an award winning production brewery located on the coast of New Jersey. Established in 2011, our focus is on handcrafted hoppy, barrel-aged, and spontaneous ales brewed locally and distributed by our team in Ocean, NJ. We are looking for full time Quality Lab Assistant to add to our growing team.

Kane Brewing is currently seeking a Full-Time Quality Lab Assistant. This full time position reports to the Quality Lab Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate and maintain various lab equipment (pH meters, density meters, digital balances, pipettes & volumetric meters).
  • Communicate amongst Departments when batches are Out of Spec, identifying parameters and potential corrective actions.
  • Prepare stock solutions, plating media and other laboratory reagents as needed.
  • Perform daily QC tasks including but not limited to: gravities, plating, plate reading, biological identification, PCR, yeast harvest & yeast cell counts.
  • Assist/ participate in sensory panels of finished and in-process goods.
  • Maintain and organized sensory retain archive.
  • Assist in inventory of supplies.
  • Assist other Departments when requested (Packaging/ Cellar), including but not limited to taking Package TPOs, cleaning in Production Facility and disposing of spent grain.
  • Maintain a clean, organized environment.
  • The probationary period schedule will be fixed M-F, once off probation schedule can vary depending on Season.

Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, or a related field
  • 1-2 years working in a QC/QA lab for a food/beverage company or health/pharma company
  • A working knowledge of fermentation and brewery operations a plus

BREWING

DIRECTOR OF BREWING OPERATIONS 

Kane Brewing Company is an award-winning production brewery located in New Jersey. Established in 2011, our focus is on handcrafted hoppy, barrel-aged, and Belgian influenced ales brewed locally and distributed by our team in Ocean, NJ. Our 20,000+ barrel brewery is solely focused on quality and freshness and is dedicated to exclusively serving all our beer in our home market of New Jersey.

We are looking to add a full-time Director of Brewing Operations to our team.

This person will oversee production schedules and ensure implementation of all standard operating procedures to maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency throughout the production process. As part of the management team, they will work with other area leaders to develop and achieve the brewery wide goals. This position reports directly to the President.

Responsibilities:   

  • Lead all day-to-day activities necessary to produce the highest quality and consistent beers.
  • Oversee a work environment that is safe for all employees and visitors, implementing procedures, conducting trainings, and addressing and correcting safety deficiencies.
  • Manage, mentor and train production and packaging team to ensure career growth and the production of great beer.
  • Embody the company’s core values to help drive our vison for the brewery.
  • Perform brewery audits to ensure quality, consistency, and repeatability of brewing.
  • Facilitate future growth of the brewery through continuous optimization of current processes.
  • Ensure that the production team adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures while improving them when applicable.
  • Identify areas of increased operational efficiencies and drive continuous improvement culture throughout production team.
  • Develop performance and productivity metrics for all production areas.
  • Work with QC / QA department to ensure highest quality beer and trouble shoot any production issues.
  • Oversee the management and expansion of barrel-aged beer program.
  • Direct our innovation program working on new products, ingredients or processes.
  • Leverage our ERP system to streamline data collection process.
  • Identify and correct production bottlenecks and assist in managing equipment selection required to execute growth initiatives.
  • Partner with President and our facilities department on selection, installation, and training of new brewing and packaging equipment
  • Work with President, & Director of Sales and Marketing on production planning, forecasting, and budgeting.

Qualifications:   

  • 5+ years as a senior level production manager at a growing 25,000bbl+ production brewery.
  • 5+ years managing, training and motivating a team of 10 or more employees.
  • 10+ years in the brewing industry.
  • Degree in Brewing Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Keys To Success:

  • Passion for craft beer and a deep understanding of the industry.
  • Experience with new equipment selection and installation; working with facilities team, engineers, and contractors to coordinate and oversee new equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and motivate a team and maintain positive morale in the workforce.
  • Experience successfully working within management group on strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Self-motivated with high level attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment.

Salary Range: $140,000-$160,000 annually.

BREWER

We are looking for a quality focused, passionate craft brewer to add to our production team. Our production team members bring a high level of attention to detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and love craft beer.

Ideal candidates will have experience working shifts in a high-volume production brewery, but we are open to candidates with little to no experience in this setting that are highly motivated, hard working with a willingness to learn and a passion for craft beer.

A Production Brewer works as part of a team in both the hot side and cellar areas of the brewery. This position rotates shifts between early, day and night as well as between brewhouse and cellar.

Responsibilities:

Hot Side Responsibilities:

  • Production of wort, from milling to knock-out, that falls into the required specifications.
  • CIP brewing vessels, HX, pumps, hoses, etc.
  • Maintaining proper and accurate brew house records.
  • Maintaining brew house and milling cleanliness and organization.
  • Yeast harvest, pitching and health management.
  • Participation in regular sensory and tasting panels as necessary.
  • Contribute to pilot brewing program.

Cellar Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily monitoring and data collection of fermentation and conditioning tanks, including gravity, CO₂ levels, and temperature.
  • Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Sanitize in Place (SIP) of all brewery vessels.
  • Wort and beer transfer in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Operating GEA centrifuge.
  • Perform beer carbonation procedures.
  • Operate Gehaltemeter for testing DO and carbonation levels.
  • Conduct all tasks related to the barrel aging program, including filling, monitoring, and racking barrels.
  • Strict adherence to sanitary and record-keeping standards.

General Production Responsibilities:

  • Strict adherence to production and safety SOPs.
  • Basic facilities maintenance.
  • Manual cleaning of brewery equipment and parts.
  • Assist in clean and sour barrel-aging program as needed.
  • Adherence to good manufacturing practices.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Ability to work a Sunday shift rotation twice a year.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated track record of success in prior positions.

Requirements:

  • Lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work rotating shifts of five consecutive days, that include early mornings, nights and limited Sundays
  • Stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Operate a forklift and complex machinery
  • Work in a non-temperature controlled environment
  • Handling of hazardous materials

Salary Range: $25-$30/hour

DISTRIBUTION

WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the afternoon and evening operation of Kane Distributing’s warehouse. This hands-on role supports the delivery team, receives incoming transfers, maintains inventory accuracy and prepares the warehouse for the next days deliveries. Working with the Warehouse Associate and Delivery drivers, the Warehouse Supervisor helps to make sure the warehouse is organized, safe and prepared for the following day. Whether receiving product, covering a delivery route, or staging the next day’s orders, this role leads by example and helps protect Kane Brewing’s commitment to quality and freshness.

This position reports to the Director of Sales and Distribution.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)

Key Responsibilities:

Team

  • Manage and support the warehouse associate and delivery drivers to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Recurring Warehouse and Delivery driver meetings to review priorities, safety and updates.
  • Schedule and coordinate daily staffing and provide hands-on support during vacations, holidays and other coverage needs.
  • Serve as back up Warehouse Associate or Delivery driver during vacations, call outs and busy periods.
  • Maintain a positive, accountable and team-oriented work environment.

Warehouse Operations

  • Support daily warehouse and delivery execution to ensure every order is accurate, complete and delivered on time.
  • Review routes, delivery schedules and staffing daily to maximize efficiency while maintaining customer service standards.
  • Prepare routes and loading priorities for the next morning.
  • Organize, stock and maintain the warehouse to support efficient daily operations.
  • Receive, verify and organize incoming transfers each afternoon.
  • Process returns and organize empty kegs.
  • Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized and ready before the end of each shift so the morning team can begin loading immediately.

Inventory

  • Maintain accurate inventory through daily reconciliation, cycle counts and routine inventory checks.
  • Ensure product is properly rotated (First in First out), organized and stored to protect quality and freshness.
  • Monitor breakage, damaged product and aging inventory, taking corrective action when needed.
  • Protect product quality through proper handling, storage and cold chain practices.

Fleet, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe warehouse environment.
  • Coordinate, maintain and schedule preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs for the delivery fleet.
  • Maintain vehicle registrations, licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment in safe working condition.
  • Promote safe lifting, equipment operation and proper product handling throughout the Distribution process.

HOSPITALITY

HOSPITALITY ASSOCIATE – PART TIME

Kane Brewing Company is currently looking for part-time Hospitality Associates to add to our Retail Team. The position would require approximately 8-16 hours of work over one-to-two days a week—mostly weekends.

This position works in our brewery’s tasting room and acts as an on-site brand ambassador for the brewery. The ideal candidate for this role would love beer, brewing and hospitality. The purpose of this role is to welcome visitors to the brewery, educate them on our beer and history and further build the craft beer community. Experience in hospitality, beer service or brewing is helpful.

IMPORTANT: If you already have a full or part-time position with a wholesale distributor of alcohol or a bar/restaurant and are looking for extra hours, please do not apply. We cannot hire across tiers of the three-tier alcohol distribution system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of Kane beers, our brewing process and history.
  • Proper pour and service of draft and bottled beer.
  • Work with customers on the purchase of cans, bottles, kegs, and merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized beer service and tasting room area.
  • Assist with counting, rotating and management of inventory.
  • Uphold high standards of service quality and consistency.
  • Assist with other retail operations as needed.

Must be able to:

  • Stand for 6-8 hours per day
  • Lift and carry cases of beer and small kegs
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays

Other requirements:

  • 21 years of age
  • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills
  • Knowledge and/or passion for craft beer and brewing or willingness to be trained and learn
